(AP) -- RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A federal grand jury in Virginia has indicted 27 members of a motorcycle gang on charges ranging from attempted murder to drug distribution.

Among those charged is 53-year-old Jack Rosga of Milwaukee, national president of the American Outlaw Association.

U.S. Attorney Neil MacBride says the June 10 indictment was unsealed Tuesday. The indictment alleges the Outlaws motorcycle gang is a highly organized criminal enterprise that has engaged in violent racketeering activities, intended in part to gain an advantage over the rival Hell's Angels.

Defendants are from Wisconsin, Maine, Montana, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Rock Hill, South Carolina.
