FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) -- The Army is opening a special hall of fame at a South Carolina post to honor leaders from its human resources ranks, known as the Adjutant General Corps.
Army spokesman Patrick Jones says Friday's event at Fort Jackson will officially memorialize 11 members, including Lt. Gen. Timothy Maude, the three-star general who was killed in action during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Pentagon.
Maude was serving as the Army's deputy chief of staff for personnel, which overseas the corps.
Fort Jackson, which is outside Columbia, is home to the Adjutant General School, where soldiers who oversee all of the Army's personnel activities are trained.
