State Attorney General Henry McMaster says Charles Edgebert Rogers, Jr., 34, of Florence, was arrested by the City of Charleston Police Department Tuesday.
Rogers is charged with Criminal Solicitation of a Minor, a felony offense punishable by up to ten years imprisonment.
McMaster says officers executed a search warrant at Roger's residence Tuesday and seized computer equipment and various computer-related items.
According to an arrest warrant, on March 2, 2010, Rogers solicited sex via the Internet from an individual that he believed to be a young teenage girl. The Attorney General's Office says he was actually soliciting sex from an undercover officer from the Charleston Police Department.
Bond was set at $50,000 and Rogers bonded out Wednesday.
Both the Charleston Police Department and the Florence County Sheriff's Department, which assisted in the arrest, are members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
This is the 190th arrest for the Task Force.
McMaster stressed that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
