HONEA PATH, S.C. (AP) -- The parents of a boy who shot and killed a 13-year-old friend earlier this year have been arrested and charged with failing to secure the gun.
WYFF-TV in Greenville reported the State Law Enforcement Division has charged 43-year-old Gregory Scott Hood of Honea Path with involuntary manslaughter and illegal conduct toward a child.
His wife, 39-year-old Danielle Elise Hood, is charged with illegal conduct toward a child.
The couple's 11-year-old son shot and killed 13-year-old Dustin Dean Ashley at their home on Feb. 19.
SLED arrest warrants state the couple put their children at risk by leaving numerous, unsecured guns and ammunition in the home.
Abbeville County Sheriff Charles Goodwin says the 11-year-old was trying to put the gun back on a rack when it fired.-
