Wednesday, union members in Georgetown voted to take lower wages in an effort to reopen the Arcelor-Mittal steel plant.
The company suspended operations at the plant last July, saying the recession caused a significant drop in demand for steel.
Union president James Sanderson tells us members overwhelmingly voted to take lower wages to make the plant more competitive.
Sanderson says he should hear from the plant in the next 30 days about the possibility of it re-opening.
