An Horry County magistrate set a $500,000 bail on a Tabor City, NC, man charged with felony DUI in a fatal wreck on Thursday night.

Timothy Fowler, 24, appeared in magistrate's court on Saturday, and he was still in jail as of this posting.

Highway Patrol says Fowler was trying to pass a car on Highway 701 on Thursday night when he lost control and hit another car.

The car that was struck was driven by Robert Byerly of Loris, and he was a father of three.
