The Coastal South Carolina chapter of the American Red Cross held its annual banquet to honor its volunteers tonight.
It was held at the Horry Georgetown Technical College.
The volunteers were recognized for their hard work.
Director of Public Support Nancy Conley says when volunteers help disaster victims they return with a different perspective of victims.
Conley says, "They come back and they say, you know we received so much more from disaster victims than we gave them. They're just so full of love and compassion and they make us feel so much better than we could ever imagine. We don't do enough."
Conley says volunteers must be trained and if you're interested in becoming a volunteer there will be a volunteer orientation on June 8th at the Myrtle Beach mall.
