Press Release - Escaped inmate Quamaine McMillan was taken back into custody about 2:45 p.m. Thursday.

A captain with the S.C. Department of Corrections' Division of Security spotted McMillan walking on Plywood Street in Orangeburg and took McMillan into custody without incident. McMillan had walked away from a work detail at S.C. State University about 12:30 p.m. Today.

McMillan, who was previously at minimum-security Stevenson Correctional Institution, will be transported to Broad River Correctional Institution, a maximum-security prison in Columbia. McMillan faces a felony escape charge, which carries a sentence of one to 15 years in prison.
