The second man to step on the moon arrived on the Grand Strand Friday Night.
Buzz Aldrin will be the Grand Marshal of Saturday's Memorial Day Parade in Myrtle Beach.
The retired Air Force colonel and astronaut says honoring our nation's military is important to him.
Aldrin said, "I'm very sensitive to things that honor people who serve the country, because when I was 17 and entered West Point, I took on the obligation to serve my country and have considered my whole life has been driven by that ever since."
Aldrin will be the grand marshal of the Military Appreciation Days parade down Ocean Boulevard beginning at 10:30am Saturday.
