Press Release - Agape Hospice, a division of Agape Senior located at 2320 Hwy. 378 in Conway, is currently seeking patient care volunteers. Hospice volunteers play an indispensable role in enabling Agape Hospice to offer the best care possible for patients living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families, and caregivers.

"There comes a time in our lives when we want to do something special; when we want to make a difference in the quality of life for others and ourselves," said Doris B. Smith, Volunteer Coordinator. "By sharing their time, energy, and expertise, our volunteers bring compassion and caring to the lives of those in need."

Hospice (and palliative care) volunteers understand that every person they care for is a unique individual with a lifetime of experiences, relationships, and gifts to share. These dedicated volunteers help people live every moment of life to the fullest.

Most hospice volunteers choose to give their time helping others because of their experiences with the compassionate care that hospice provided to their dying loved one.

Patient care volunteers have a unique opportunity to minister to patients and their families in their greatest time of need. Patient care volunteers perform a wide range of services such as companionship, reading, sitting with the patient to give the caregiver the opportunity to go out for a while, or even running errands for the patient or family.

Agape Hospice, a ministry of Agape Senior, provides care for people with a wide range of terminal illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung, liver and kidney disease, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Alzheimer's, AIDS, an advanced disease or a continually declining condition. Our type of healthcare focuses on caring and comforting, not curing.

All hospices are required by Medicare to offer volunteer services to their patients and their families.

Information regarding becoming a volunteer or about Agape Hospice is available by contacting Doris B. Smith, Volunteer Coordinator at (843) 355-2434 or dbsmith@agapesenior.com.
