A groundbreaking was held this week for a new fire substation for the city of Marion. It should take about three years to complete the building.

They money for the project came from a couple of grants totaling more than $500,000.

The nearly two acre site is on Senator Gasque Road near Palmetto Point Road.

The substation should help the city secure a class four ISO rating, which should save homeowners money on insurance.
