Tavio Boston, 15, will be tried as an adult on two counts of murder in the deaths of his mother and his mother's unborn baby.
Tavio's mother, Sherryle Terry, was 8 months pregnant when she was shot and killed in October of 2008 in the family's home in Darlington County. Police say Tavio also shot his 12-year-old sister inside their home. She played dead and eventually was able to go get help.
Tavio faces a charge of assault and battery with intent to kill in connection with the shooting of his sister.
At a bond hearing Thursday, Judge Michael Nettles denied bond, saying Tavio was a threat to society and himself.
Even though Tavio is being tried as an adult, he must stay in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
After the shooting two years ago, relatives told NewsChannel 15 that Sherryle had kicked Tavio out of the house because he had gotten involved with a gang.
Police say Tavio was also upset about his mother's pregnancy. She had gotten married two years before.
