(AP) -- A man accused of posing as a doctor has pleaded guilty in Lexington to about half of the charges against him and avoided a trial.
Dean Alan Willoughby of Mount Sterling was scheduled for trial next week on 74 counts of practicing medicine without a license and sexual abuse.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Willoughby entered guilty pleas in Fayette Circuit Court on Tuesday.
A prosecutor said Willoughby entered the pleas to every count in which a victim was available to testify against him.
When Willoughby is sentenced Aug. 6, he could receive as many as 15 years in prison.
The newspaper reported he was charged in 1994 in Columbia, South Carolina for performing genital and rectal exams on people while claiming he was conducting a university study. He pleaded guilty to several charges in that case.
