A Carolina Forest High School teacher's aide and student were charged two weeks ago after they got into a fight, according to an Horry County police report.
Horry County Police say a 16-year-old student was assigned to an in-school suspension on May 11 at Carolina Forest High School.
During lunch, the student began using "loud and profane language towards the teacher," the report reads. That aide, Richard Bellamy, "verbally challenged" the student, police said.
Police said a fight then broke out between the student and the aide who eventually pinned the student to a table.
The school resource officer, Marcus Rhodes, described the student as out of control and uncooperative. Officer Rhodes said he removed the student from the cafeteria and placed him under arrest once they got to Rhodes' office.
Rhodes said the student continued to be uncooperative and said he resisted arrest by pushing him and refusing to turn around. Only when Rhodes pulled out his taser did the student cooperate, the report said.
Rhodes said while he was handcuffing the student, the young man head-butted the metal storage closet several times.
The student was charged three days later on May 14 with simple assault and battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and malicious damage.
The aide, Richard Bellamy, was also arrested three days later and charged with simple assault and battery.
Teal Britton, a school district spokeswoman, said Bellamy, who isn't a certified teacher, was placed on administrative leave with pay on May 12.
