The Marion County Sheriff's Office says Friday afternoon a homeowner shot a burglary suspect, and that suspect is under arrest.
Deputies say Wesley Collins broke into a home on Pee Dee Island Road near Nichols.
They say the homeowner, who's about 70 years old, caught him in the act, held him at gunpoint, and called police.
Investigators say when Collins rushed the homeowner and threatened him with a tire tool, the homeowner fired a shot and it went through Collins' hand and into his leg.
Collins is in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. When he's released, he'll be taken to the Marion County Detention Center.
He is charged with burglary and assault with intent to kill. Deputies say Collins is on probation for another burglary charge in 2009.
Investigators say no charges will be filed against the homeowner.
