The Shelter Haiti program on the Grand Strand got the financial boost it needed to finish what volunteers started.
The Fraternal Order of Police presented a check for $5,000 to the head of the local Shelter Haiti program, Ed Jackson.
We told you last month that the program had shipped 48 pre-fab homes to Haiti earthquake victims but they had 130 left to go when they ran out of money.
"A bunch of prayer warriors got on their knees and just this last week, this last 20,000 dollars has come in. It came in a four thousand dollar check, a 52 hundred dollar check a 5800 dollar check and then this 5000 dollar check from the police," Ed Jackson, Shelter Haiti, said.
The donation Friday helped them reach their goal of $70,000 for the shelters.
They hope to ship the rest of the shelters out of Georgetown June 5 or 6.
