The 3 adults and 2 children representing the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church have now left Socastee High School.
The protest was scheduled to take place outside the school from 7:50am to 8:20am. The church members showed up late, about 8:00am and were flanked by about 7 Horry County police officers.
25 to 30 counter protestors showed up first around 7:00a.m. The counter protesters were calling today a Day of Love. They held signs that read 'God Loves Everyone' and 'No Place For Hate' along with large American flags. A second counter protest, involving about 25 students also took place.
