The chairman of the Marlboro County School Board of Trustees suddenly resigned.
The school district's public information officer tells us John McInnis tendered his resignation Monday morning, but did not give a specific reason as to why he was stepping down.
We're told McInnis has been the chairman of the board for about five years.
The board's vice chairman, Michael Toms, is expected to be appointed chairman until an election is held to fill McInnis' position.
