Now that Myrtle Beach International Airport is going to be expanded, it needs to find the workers to do it.
Tuesday night, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises hosted a meeting at the Bucksport Community Center to encourage women and minorities of small companies to apply.
James McQuilla with Professional Buyers Advantage tells NewsChannel 15, "When you're a small disadvantaged company and your used to perhaps benefiting from contracts might net your company $10,000.. an opportunity to work on a project that might be a $300,000 or plus opportunity doesn't come around often."
The DBE wants to ensure that women and minorities will have the opportunity to compete for contracts and sub-contracts in the airport expansion project.
