1,097 Coastal Carolina University students were eligible for graduation this spring, and 890 marched Saturday morning in the college's commencement exercises.

Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, the chairwoman of the American Red Cross, addressed the grads and received an honorary Doctor of Public Service. She is the first woman ever selected for that post.

The ceremonies were held this morning at Brooks Stadium in Conway.
