Horry County plans Hurricane Expo

Press Release - Once again this year, Horry County will partner with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce to present the 5th Annual Hurricane Preparedness Conference and Expo on June 7, 2010, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel.

The Conference is free and the first 300 registered participants will receive free lunch sponsored by Santee Cooper.

This year's theme is "HurriICANe Survival" and will feature many general sessions to include:

2010 Hurricane Season Update- Steve Pfaff, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the Wilmington office of the National Weather Service and Randy Webster, Horry County Emergency Management Director.

Me, My House and Why?-Alicia Bastian, Horry County Emergency Management Natural Hazards Planner, will explore options for the homeowners on how to not only prepare your family for a Hurricane, but your home as well.

The Next 72 is on You-The session will educated the public on what can happen after a hurricane, how the recovery process will take place and what you can do to be prepared.
