A National Day of Prayer event was held in North Myrtle Beach Thursday.
At noon people gathered at city hall to pray for the troops, the economy and the world.
Religious leaders from churches throughout the area offered their prayers before the crowd.
North Myrtle Beach Mayor Marilyn Hatley said National Day of Prayer events need to continue, despite a recent federal ruling that they're unconstitutional.
The National Day of Prayer has been held the first Thursday in May for the past 59 years.
