SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. (AP) -- Before the show starts, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will put on a pre-festival performance at a South Carolina base.

Air Force spokeswoman Emily Chilson says the air team was expected to conduct some aerial maneuvers before landing at Shaw Air Force Base on Thursday.

The team is taking part in the weekend's celebration of aviation, past and present, as well as a special event highlighting the reenlistment of airmen from the base.

The team flies the F-16 Fighting Falcon, an aircraft also flown by the active duty Air Force squadrons based at Shaw.
