Surfside Beach Mayor Allen Deaton has asked for a change of venue in his DUI case.

In January, Surfside Beach Police charged Deaton with driving under the influence. Tuesday, the 15th Circuit Solicitor's Office said Deaton requested a jury trial outside of Surfside Beach.

It will be held in Conway magistrate's court with a projected trial date of mid-July.

However, the solicitor's office said they may offer Deaton a plea deal before the case could ever go to trial.
