The award is given each year in honor of Officer Joe McGarry who was shot and killed in the line of duty in 2002.
Candidates are nominated by their fellow officers.
This year's recipient is Robert Lee Williams.
"It feels great. I feel honored to be selected by my peers and the Rotary Club to be policeman of the year. I never saw it coming!" Williams told us.
The Rotary Club has been honoring an officer of the year for more than 40 years.
