The Myrtle Beach Police Department held the first of several planned traffic checkpoints on Saturday.
Sgt. John Bertang with the department's traffic unit reported that officers wrote 40 citations, arrested eight people and towed seven cars.
The violations were as follows:
9 Drivers License Violations
15 Vehicle License Violations
1 Equipment Violation
2 Driving Under Suspensions
13 No Proof of Insurance
The department said it will hold at least six more checkpoints during the month of May:
On May 9th, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. on Farrow Parkway
On May 18th, 2010 on Hemlock Ave from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
On May 18th, 2010 on 76th Ave. N. from 11:00 a.m. -12:30 a.m.
On May 18th, 2010 on Boundary St. from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
On May 18th, 2010 on Stalvey Ave from 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
On May 26th, 2010 on South Ocean Blvd. from 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
