Runners and walkers participated in the Rally Around Christian Education race in Myrtle Beach Thursday night.
The Myrtle Beach Seventh Day Adventist Christian School and Church held the 5K race to benefit their school.
The school principal said the runners were excited to participate in their first ever 5K race.
Olympian runner Zola Budd was there to support the event. She became famous in the early 1980's when she ran barefooted and set world records.
Now known as Zola Pieterse, she told NewsChannel 15, "It's great. I really enjoy it and the school has meant so much to my son that I felt obliged to put something back into the school because it's helped him so much."
The participants in the race were given T-shirts and a drawing was held for prizes.
