Darlington County School District Spokewoman Audrey Childers gave the media a tour of tornado-damaged Cain Elementary School Tuesday afternoon.
The school is closed because the roof on the back classroom building was destroyed in Sunday night's storm. A few portable classrooms were also damaged and several walk-way awnings blew away.
About 60 workers with a national disaster response team are cleaning up debris at the school, and Childers says the district is weighing several options for repairs.
"There's a couple of different scenarios that we're looking at. It may be that we only have to replace the roof. It may be that once they look at it, it's more structurally damaged, and we may have to replace that building," Childers said.
In the meantime, all of the 340 Cain Elementary students are attending classes at First Baptist Church on Main Street in Darlington.
