All Darlington area schools will operate on a 2-hour delay Tuesday for students only, according to Darlington County School Spokeswoman Audrey Childers.

These schools include Brockington Elementary School, Brunson-Dargan Elementary School, Cain Elementary School, Darlington County Intervention School, Darlington High School, Darlington Middle School,Mayo High School for Math, Science & Technology, Pate Elementary School, St. John's Elementary School, and the Darlington Adult Education offices.

Childers says there is no delay for schools in Hartsville, Society Hill, and Lamar.

All school and district employees in Darlington County should report at the regular time.

Mayo High School for Math, Science & Technology received damage to the roof of the gym. Power has not yet been fully restored at the school but should be up by the end of day. Classes will resume as normal at Mayo Tuesday.

Cain Elementary School received significant damage to the roof of a classroom building. Beginning Tuesday, classes will be moved to First Baptist Church at 216 S. Main Street in Darlington (corner of Broad Street and S. Main Street, across from Hardees). Childers says the church has allowed the district the use of their classrooms, which will be enough to meet the needs of Cain Elementary School students.

Classes will be held at the church until further notice.

The buses will pick up students as usual and deliver the Cain students to the church for classes. Cain car riders should come in through Broad Street and drop off at the canopy. Parents should be able to reach all schools Tuesday by calling the normal school numbers. Darlington County School District Office of Food Service is arranging for students at the affected schools to receive breakfast and lunch as normal.
