300 new jobs are coming to Marion County over the next five years. Boeing's move to North Charleston helped pave the way for Air Carrier Accessory Service Inc. or ACAS to make the move to the Pee Dee. Company officials announced more details about their plans Monday.
The company provides repairs services for Boeing. It will locate in the old Sara Lee Hosiery plant that shut down about 3 years ago. In a few weeks, renovations will begin inside the building to get it ready for the new company. In about nine months it's expected to be filled with workers for ACAS.
ACAS company officials say Marion County provides an excellent fit for them, with a positive business environment and a top-notch workforce. The Marion plant will focus on re-manufacturing landing gear and landing gear components for seven of Boeing's aircraft.
We're told the jobs will pay decent wages and offer excellent benefits for employees, but we were not able to get any specifics.
The first few hires will be for the support team.
