If you plan to take advantage of the $8,000 first time home buyers tax credit, time is running out.

The federal tax credit, which has been in place for nearly a year and a half, expires this Friday.

If you have a contract signed by Friday, you can qualify for the credit.

The offer also extends to current homeowners who are moving into a new house. They can qualify for up to a $6,500 federal tax credit.
