The Horry County woman being hailed a hero got a big welcome home block party Saturday in Conway.
Close to a hundred people showed up at Brenda Williams' home, just one day after she returned from the hospital.
In November, Williams tried to help a stranger who was being attacked at K-Mart in Myrtle Beach.
Police say the attacker, a purse snatcher, then ran over Williams as she tried to get the purse back.
She was left paralyzed, spent six months at the Shepherd Spine Center in Atlanta. The woman who Williams was trying to help was by her side Saturday.
Williams says she doesn't blame her and has no regrets about what she did.
The community is raising money for Williams. She needs help getting a wheelchair-accessible van and paying some bills, as she's unable to work.
Donations can be made to the Brenda Dewitt Williams Recovery Fund through Conway National Bank.
The woman who police say ran over Williams was arrested and has been charged.
