Saturday, several homes received a makeover, compliments of the city of Florence.
It was the first annual paint the town project. Volunteers put a fresh coat of paint on nearly a dozen houses of the elderly and disabled, throughout the Florence.
Officials say it was their way of helping those in need.
"As you know the city of Florence is a city of character and this is one of the many times that we act as volunteers in the city to give back," said Scotty Davis, Director of Community Services.
Some crews wrapped up early because of the rain, but vow to come back and finish the job.
City officials held this event in conjunction with Christmas in April project.
Dozens of volunteers with that project repaired homes in Florence.
