A man some people thought would run for the First District Congressional seat, which represents parts of Georgetown and Horry Counties, endorsed a candidate Friday.
State Representative Alan Clemmons told supporters he is backing Republican candidate Tim Scott for the seat being vacated by Henry Brown.
Eight other Republicans are vying for the seat.
