Thursday to celebrate Earth Day, teachers and students together planted 700 flowers, cleaned-up the campus, and planted about 40 trees which were donated by Burgess families.
Burgess Elementary students also made bird feeders, planters out of egg cartons, and showed off their rain garden.
The school's principal, Donna Hooks, says it's important to teach the students early.
She told NewsChannel 15, "Because they're our future and they're the ones that have to learn how to save the earth for the future. A lot of parents tell us they never recycle. They never thought about it until their kids started learning about it in school and now their kids force them at home to recycle."
The school also participated in an Earth Day inspired online streaming video with 20 other schools from around the country.
