CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The new owner of a freight forwarding company says it's planning to bring more jobs to the South Carolina coast.

Development officials announced in Charleston on Thursday that Connecticut-based Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation will acquire International Forwarders Inc.

Odyssey president and CEO Bob Shellman says the 40 employees who now work for International Forwarders will continue working for Odyssey.

He says the company plans to add an undisclosed number of new jobs in the next few years.

Odyssey is a global logistics and transportation service provider for shippers.

In all, South Carolina has more than 470 warehousing and distribution centers that employ about 34,000 workers.
