New firefighters given badges and helmets

20 recruits became full-fledged firefighters Thursday morning, during a graduation ceremony held at the former Myrtle Beach Air Foce Base Recreation Center.

The firefighters completed a three-month training program that included classroom instruction and hands-on, practical training.

14 of the firefighters are joining the Myrtle Beach Fire Department. Three are joining the Murrells Inlet/Garden City Fire Department. Conway Fire Department is receiving two of the firefighters. Midway Fire Rescue is receiving one.
