The Marion County Sheriff's Office is asking the State Law Enforcement Division to investigate allegations of brutality against a Marion County inmate by jail guard.

We're told it's in relation to an incident that happened last Thursday at the Marion County Detention Center.

The inmate's family says he was assaulted by a guard as he was walking back to his jail cell.

Chief Deputy Chuck Page with the Marion County Sheriff's Office tells NewsChannel 15 his department has sent a letter asking the State Law Enforcement Division to look into the allegations.

Page says it appears they will look into the matter.
