The deadline to file taxes is one week away and if you haven't gotten around to filing yet the Internal Revenue Service has some advice for you.
Do not miss the deadline. If you don't file your taxes by April 15th, you may incur interest on the unpaid balance and face a failure to file penalty.
If you are unable to pay the full amount you should pay as much as you can so the interest on the unpaid balance is minimal.
You may also request an extension of time to file which will push the deadline back six months to October 15th.
Paper filing is still an option through tax preparation offices.
However, early estimates by the IRS suggest nearly 100 million people will E-file in 2010.
