UNION, S.C. (AP) -- Officials say 12 students were taken to the hospital but none had major injuries after a school bus collided with a car near a South Carolina middle school.

Union County schools spokesman Lynn Lawson said 26 students were on the bus that collided with a car around 7 a.m. Thursday near Sims Middle School in Union.

Wallace Thomson Hospital spokeswoman Susan Foster says the two drivers and 12 students were checked out at the hospital, but none of them were expected to be admitted.

Troopers say the driver of the school bus was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way.
