COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Developer George Lee told The State of Columbia on Friday that the market opening has been pushed back to late July. Originally, the market was supposed to open in February.
The state Agriculture Department has put tenants at the old market on a month-to-month lease extension because of construction delays.
Agriculture Commissioner Hugh Weathers says vendors will be given 30 days notice before they will have to leave the old market near the University of South Carolina's Williams-Brice Stadium.
The university has bought the land where the old market sits and plans to use it for parking and other events.
