The House of Raeford Chicken Processing Plant in Robeson County was engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived.

The fire completely gutted a massive warehouse at the facility. The warehouse is located between Maxton and Laurinburg.

Fire crews were called to the scene just after midnight. Twelve different fire departments responded and more than 100 firefighters were at the scene.

Investigators do not know what caused the fire.

The hazmat team was also called in because of the ammonia kept in the building. There was no danger to the public and no employees were hurt.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
