People who live in North Myrtle Beach had a chance to talk about things affecting their city Thursday night, and of course, public safety was a top concern of many people at the meeting of the Citizens Advisory Board.
In January, the city's public safety director, William Bailey, was demoted after he lied about the theft of his city owned gun. Also, two high ranking officers were fired recently.
One man who spoke at the meeting believes the city should divide the North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department into separate police and fire departments because it would create better trained police officers and firefighters.
The issue that seemed to divide many was William Bailey's demotion to lieutenant. Some at the meeting believe he should have been fired, while others believe he deserves another chance at leading the public safety department.
Some city council members were at Thursday night's meeting. Other issues discussed include taxes and the May bike rallies.
