CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- It promises to be a crowded political stage on the South Carolina coast when candidates for the state's 1st Congressional District seat get together.

The Propeller Club of the Port of Charleston is holding a forum at The Citadel on Thursday.

Fourteen candidates, including ten Republicans, three Democrats and an independent are running in the district stretching along the coast from near Charleston to the North Carolina state line.

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Heny Brown is not seeking re-election, but instead running for Berkeley County supervisor.

The Propeller Club draws membership from Charleston's maritime industry. It has 310 members and club officials say it's the second-largest such club in the world.
