CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The prosecution continues its case in the trial of a 30-year-old South Carolina mom accused of letting her children perish in a sweltering car and then stuffing their bodies beneath her sink.
Sametta Heyward returns to court on Thursday to face two counts of homicide by child abuse and two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child.
The charges stem from the July 2007 deaths of her 4-year-old son and her almost 2-year-old daughter.
Authorities allege she went to work and left the tots with fans and foods in a sweltering car where temperatures may have reached 130 degrees.
The childrens' bodies were later found in trash bags beneath the sink in the woman's apartment.
