SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina textile company is expanding a plant and will add 40 jobs.
Multiple media outlets reported that Leigh Fibers Inc. of Spartanburg said Wednesday it will spend $10 million to expand its plant in Wellford.
The company recycles textile waste and uses it to make new fabrics for a variety of industries. Leigh says the expansion will allow it to diversify its product offering and improve customer service.
Leigh Fibers president Keith Taylor says the 40 positions to be added over the next five years will include machine operators and technicians with the pay averaging $17 to $18 per hour.
Taylor says the company's work reduces the amount of textile waste going into landfills.
