Myrtle Beach is not going to annex as much property near Myrtlewood Golf Course as originally planned.
The city planned to annex 585 acres of Horry County land between 48th Avenue North and 29th Avenue North.
The city says only property owned by Myrtle Beach Farms and Burroughs and Chapin are involved.
But those companies agreed to reduce the annexation request to 85 acres along 17 Bypass and Robert Grissom Parkway.
Myrtle Beach spokesman Mark Kruea tells NewsChannel 15, "Burroughs and Chapin in this instance wants to bring property into the city for future development. Maybe not in two or three years, but certainly over a longer period of time. They see the benefit of being part of the City of Myrtle Beach and that's why they requested the annexation."
The Myrtlewood Golf Courses were removed from the proposal.
