The United Way of Horry County wants to brighten the day for senior citizens in our area.
The agency kicked off its "Make Someone's May Day" campaign, Tuesday. United Way workers will be collecting bags of personal care items to distribute to senior shut-ins in May.
The campaign chairman says seniors can certainly use the help, especially now. "As the times gotten tough then people have seen the need and it's the seniors that seem to be hit harder than the general population. So, in these difficult economic times I think its very important that we help the seniors out," said Lance Thompson, Campaign Chairman, United Way of Horry County.
This is the 9th year for the event.
