Many people along Highway 319 in Horry County don't want that area developed.

They met with Horry County planning commissioners Monday night.

The Highway 319 area runs from Aynor to Conway, from about from Highways 701 to 501.

A lot of people that live in that area don't want to see a lot of commercial development. They say they want to preserve the rural nature of the area.

Roy Taylor with Horry County Planning and Zoning told NewsChannel 15, "The very things that make it desirable for these folks to live here are also the things that make it desirable to develop."

Monday's was the first of a series of public meetings about the Highway 319 area plan. The next meeting is set for March 25th from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at Bethany Bible Chapel.
