Federal documents show that 23-year-old Brady Alan Johnson was charged federally today with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Police say Johnson has a prior conviction and isn't allowed to carry a gun. Last month, deputies say Johnson shot and killed Officer Matthew Clayton with the Florence Police Department.
The shooting happened at Clayton's home in Florence.
He was off-duty at the time.
Police tell us Clayton and Johnson were acquaintances.
Johnson is being held at the Florence County Detention Center without bond.
He will make his first federal court appearance in Tuesday afternoon at 2:30.
